Broad Application Support
with Built-in Extensibility Check Point FireWall-1 supports more than 120 pre-defined applications, services, and protocols--more than any other firewall vendor. Support is provided for all major Internet services, including secure Web browsers, the traditional set of Internet applications (e.g. mail, FTP, Telnet, etc.), the entire TCP family, and connectionless protocols such as RPC and UDP-based applications. In addition, only FireWall-1 offers support for critical current and emerging business applications such as Oracle SQL*Net database access and multimedia applications such as RealAudio, VDOLive, and Internet Phone. FireWall-1's open architecture is extensible to new and custom applications as well. New services can be added easily through pop-up template windows or by using INSPECT, Check Point Software's powerful programming language. This built-in extensibility makes FireWall-1 readily adaptable to new and changing network security requirements, and provides customization to meet even the most rigorous network security demands. Distributed Client/Server Architecture with Centralized Management FireWall-1 is based on a distributed, client/server architecture that provides high performance, scalability and deployment flexibility along with centralized control. Corporations can deploy multiple FireWall-1 modules throughout the enterprise, all of which can be set-up, monitored and controlled from a single workstation, utilizing an integrated, enterprise-wide security policy, rule base, and log file. Authorized management clients can access security control information from anywhere on the network. This deployment flexibility and built-in scalability makes FireWall-1 a practical alternative for a single Internet gateway or a complete enterprise-wide security system. |
